Ahoy! We're your home port for green coffee and home roasting supplies
Green coffee beans are raw, unroasted coffee beans. Please note that we do NOT sell roasted coffee. “ Why buy green coffee?” For starters, it's better, more economical, faster and easier. And if you really love coffee, freshness is everything! We also sell coffee roasters, grinders and brewers. While you're here, check out the Explore section of our site, featuring how-to articles for roasting and brewing coffee at home and lots more!

A lot of you have told us Kenya coffees are some of your favorites. Ours too. So why don't we offer any? This seems to be an off year for coffee coming out of Kenya. We've cupped several samples and so far none of them are at the level you've come to expect from us. Will we have any later? Unknown at this point. We hope to, and we'll continue the search. But until we find one that cups well, Kenyas will be missing from our offerings list. Why the bad year?

Unless you're particularly fond of that grocery store swill, you might want to keep the following dates in mind. We'll be closed for various reasons on the dates below:
October 12 - October 26 (Fall Cupping Retreat) Orders need to be to us by NOON (Eastern) on October 12.
December 23 - December 31 (Family Christmas Visit)
If you get our newsletter, we'll send out reminders. Also, check back here for the "Shipping Cut-Off" associated with these dates. We want to make sure you have plenty of time to re-stock. We really don't want you to have to drink that stuff they call "Coffee" that comes in those bricks!

Can I Really Roast My Own Coffee? |

Not only is the answer "Yes, you can" but it is also "Yes, you should"! There are a few old hard-heads out there who might not agree, but over and over we hear from people who say their first cup of home roasted coffee is the best cup they've ever had. We certainly think so!
Home coffee roasting does not require a lot of special equipment, it doesn't take a lot of time, and it won't break the bank.

We publish a free email newsletter, The Captain's Coffee News. We send it out on a very irregular basis—either when we have something to say, or more likely, when ever we get around to it! The one thing we try to NOT do is send out spam, so we only send the newsletter to people who have told us they'd like to receive it. If you'd like to learn more about roasting, grinding and brewing, coffee and health, and get the latest installment of The History of Coffee, just send us a note to:
